What is e-file?

E-file is an individual tax return sent to the Internal Revenue Service by computer. Some firms file over the internet. We file directly to the Internal Revenue Service. Last year, there were more than 47 million returns e-filed in this manner.

What happens to my refund?

You may either have it directly deposited to your bank account or have a check mailed to you by IRS. Direct deposit takes about 8-14 days from the date your return is accepted, with a check taking an additional week.

How do I work with Grimes Tax Filings?

1. Complete the tax organizer forms that pertain to you by clicking on the tax organizer button.

2. You must fax or e-mail us a scanned copy of your W-2 and/or 1099šs, a voided check if you would like direct deposit, along with the tax organizer you have prepared.

3. We then prepare your tax forms for you, and contact you when they are complete.

4. We send you Form 8453, that you must sign and fax back to us. This authorizes us to e-file your tax return.

5. Once we receive Form 8453, we will electronically transmit your tax return to the IRS.

6. IRS will send us an acknowledgment of the return the next day, stating whether they have accepted or rejected the return. Most rejections pertain to incorrect names, birthdates and Social Security numbers of taxpayers and dependents.
